Acts 18:9

Posted on 18 May at 11:43
Listen to this article

“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace.”

Divine Encouragement:The verse begins with “Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision.” God, in His grace and mercy, chose to communicate directly with Paul to provide encouragement. It shows us that even in times of difficulty or opposition, God is aware of our situation and is ready to strengthen and guide us.

Fearlessness:The first message from God to Paul is, “Be not afraid.” This instruction reveals that Paul might have been facing fear or apprehension due to the opposition he was experiencing. God assured him that he didn’t need to be afraid because He was with him. This reminder applies to believers today as well. We can take comfort in knowing that God’s presence and guidance dispel fear and give us confidence in fulfilling our mission.

Boldness in Speech:The next part of the message says, “but speak, and hold not thy peace.” God commanded Paul to continue speaking and proclaiming the Gospel boldly, despite the opposition he faced. This instruction emphasizes the importance of sharing the message of salvation without reservation or hesitation. It reminds us that we shouldn’t be silenced or discouraged by opposition or challenges but instead persist in sharing the truth of God’s Word.

Acts 18:9 serves as a reminder that God is present in our lives, aware of our struggles, and ready to provide encouragement. It also underscores the importance of fearlessness and boldness in speaking the truth of the Gospel, regardless of opposition. As believers, we can find inspiration in this verse to continue sharing the good news and trusting in God’s guidance and protection.
