Deuteronomy 21:18
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

For believers today, the specific punishment in Deuteronomy is not binding. Jesus fulfilled the law and established a new covenant of grace and forgiveness. Yet the principle remains: persistent rebellion against authority, especially God’s authority, leads to ruin. The gospel offers forgiveness and transformation to all who repent, including the stubborn and rebellious.

Consider the state of your own heart. Is there any area where you resist correction or refuse to listen to godly counsel? The verse calls for humility and a teachable spirit. It also encourages parents to be diligent in training their children, trusting God to work in their lives. True obedience flows from a heart that loves and fears the Lord.
