Ephesians 2:14

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

The phrase “he is our peace” refers to Jesus Christ. He is the source and embodiment of peace. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus provides peace between God and humanity, and also between Jews and Gentiles. Jesus is the ultimate reconciler who brings harmony and unity.

Jesus has made Jews and Gentiles one body, breaking down the barriers that separated them. He has created a new entity that encompasses believers from all backgrounds.

This barrier represented the strict separation between Jews and Gentiles, with Jews considering themselves as God’s chosen people and Gentiles as outsiders. Christ accomplished this unity through His flesh, meaning His physical body offered in sacrifice. Application

We are to actively promote love, understanding, and acceptance within our communities.

• Seek Peace: Jesus is the source of true peace. We can find peace in our relationship with God through Christ’s redemptive work. In a world filled with turmoil and conflict, we can be ambassadors of peace, reflecting the love and reconciliation of Christ to those around us.

• Appreciate Diversity: God’s plan of salvation encompasses people from all walks of life. We should value and appreciate the diversity of God’s creation, recognizing that our differences do not hinder our unity in Christ. Instead, our diverse backgrounds can enrich our understanding of God and strengthen our witness to the world.
