Exodus 30:32

Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.

Context

God gave Moses detailed instructions for making the sacred anointing oil. This oil was used to consecrate the priests, the tabernacle, and its furnishings. The verse forbids pouring it on ordinary people and making any other oil with the same recipe. The next verse adds a severe warning: anyone who makes a like mixture or puts it on an unauthorized person shall be cut off from his people. This warning shows how seriously God treats what He has set apart.

Meaning

The oil was unique and set apart. Its composition was not to be copied for common use, such as at feasts or for ordinary bodily anointing. It was reserved for the consecration of Aaron and his sons and the tabernacle. The phrase “it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you” shows that God’s holiness is not to be imitated or trivialized.
