Ezekiel 43:11

Posted on 18 May at 11:29
Listen to this article

And if they be ashamed of all that they haue done; shew them the forme of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the commings in thereof, and all the formes thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the formes thereof, and all the lawes thereof: & write it in their sight, that they may keepe the whole forme thereof, and all the Ordinances therof, and doe them. Ezekiel 43:11 (KJV)

Context: The book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book that records the visions and messages given to the prophet Ezekiel during the Babylonian exile.

Restoration of the temple: In the previous chapters, Ezekiel receives detailed instructions and measurements for a new temple, which symbolizes the restoration of God’s presence among His people after the exile.

Thus shall the temple be after this; the inner court, the door, and the outer court of the priests shall be the same as before. (Ezekiel 43:11, KJV)

Spiritual significance: The temple represented God’s dwelling place among His people, a place of worship, and a symbol of His covenant relationship with Israel.

The verse emphasizes the importance of the people being shown the form, fashion, goings out, comings in, ordinances, and laws of the temple.

Teaching and obedience: By writing the form and ordinances in their sight, God wants the people to internalize and remember the structure and requirements of the temple.

The precise description of the temple’s dimensions and features serves to instruct the people in how to conduct worship correctly.

Application: While Ezekiel 43:11 was originally addressed to the exiled Israelites and their future restoration, there are broader applications for us today.

It encourages us to seek a clear understanding of God’s instructions and to apply them faithfully in the details of our daily lives, recognizing that obedience to God’s word involves both heart devotion and practical adherence.

In conclusion, Ezekiel 43:11 highlights the significance of preserving the intended design of God’s house and calls the people to respect and follow the divine guidelines associated with worship.

It reminds us of the importance of obedience and the responsibility we have to live according to God’s Word in our lives today.
