Ezekiel 43:5

Listen to this article

So the Spirit tooke me vp, and brought mee into the inner court, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house. Ezekiel 43:5 (KJV)

In this striking vision Ezekiel is carried by the Spirit of the Lord into the inner court of a future temple. The surrounding chapters give detailed measurements and specifications for that temple, emphasizing that it will be the dwelling place of God’s presence. The Spirit’s taking Ezekiel up underscores the supernatural character of the revelation and reminds believers that true understanding comes through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When Ezekiel arrives, he sees the glory of the Lord filling the house. The “glory” represents God’s majesty, splendor, and personal presence. Its filling of the temple signals that God accepts and dwells among His people, heralding a time of renewal, divine favour, and blessing. This restoration of God’s presence is not merely a future architectural event; it points to the spiritual reality that God desires to inhabit the hearts of His people.

For today’s believers the passage carries clear application. Just as the temple was meant to be filled with divine glory, our worship spaces, churches, and especially our own hearts should be saturated with God’s presence. Seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance and longing for God’s dwelling within us leads to transformation and blessing. The vision encourages a posture of dependence on the Spirit in all spiritual matters and a desire for continual communion with the Lord.

To deepen understanding, readers are urged to study the entire temple vision in Ezekiel, compare it with other biblical passages about God’s dwelling, and consult reliable commentaries or engage in group discussion. Such study helps reveal the broader significance of God’s plan to dwell among His people and the ongoing call for believers to pursue the fullness of His glory in their lives.
