Ezekiel 46:10

Posted on 18 May at 14:57
Listen to this article

“And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go forth, shall go forth.”

Context:This verse is part of a larger passage in the book of Ezekiel where the prophet describes the regulations and responsibilities of the prince in relation to the temple and the worship of God. In this specific verse, Ezekiel is highlighting the role of the prince when the people enter and exit the temple.

To understand the context better, let’s explore the surrounding verses:

Ezekiel 46:9-10 (KJV) says: “But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate, and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it. And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go forth, shall go forth.”

In this passage, the prophet is outlining a specific procedure for the people’s entrance and exit from the temple during solemn feasts. It states that those who enter through the north gate should exit through the south gate, and those who enter through the south gate should exit through the north gate. This regulation ensures an orderly flow of people and prevents congestion or confusion within the temple.

Furthermore, the passage emphasizes the role of the prince. It states that the prince, who is positioned in the midst of the people, should enter and exit the temple along with them. This indicates that the prince is not exempt from these regulations but is to participate in the worship of God alongside the people.

The significance of this instruction lies in the fact that the prince represents leadership and authority. By adhering to the same entrance and exit procedures as the people, the prince demonstrates his submission to the Lord and his unity with the community. It reinforces the idea that even the highest authority figures should humbly approach God in worship and follow the prescribed order.

In a broader sense, this passage can remind us of the importance of humility and servant leadership. Regardless of our position or authority, we are called to approach God with reverence and participate in worship as part of the larger community of believers.

Overall, Ezekiel 46:10 highlights the involvement of the prince in the worship of God and emphasizes the significance of humble and unified worship for both leaders and the community.
