Habakkuk 2:1
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Context
Habakkuk, one of the minor prophets, lived when Judah faced impending judgment for disobedience. In the previous chapter, he brought his complaints and questions to God. Here he declares his determination to wait for God’s reply, marking a transition from questioning to humble receptivity.
Meaning
“I will stand upon my watch” pictures a watchman on a tower, alert for danger or communication. Prophets commonly took such a high place to look for news or messages, especially in times of distress. By setting himself on the tower, Habakkuk deliberately rises above distractions to focus on God’s voice. The tower and watch imagery underscore the need for an elevated perspective—separating oneself from noise to hear from God.
