Isaiah 27:2

Posted on 18 May at 14:14
Listen to this article

“In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.”

Context:To understand the verse better, it’s important to consider its context within the book of Isaiah. The book of Isaiah is a prophetic book, and in this particular passage, Isaiah is speaking about a future day when God will judge and restore His people. This verse comes in the context of God’s judgment upon Israel’s enemies and the restoration of His people.

Symbolism:The verse uses symbolic language to depict the future restoration of God’s people. The phrase “A vineyard of red wine” is a metaphorical expression that signifies the abundance and blessings that God will bestow upon His people. In the biblical context, vineyards were considered a symbol of God’s favour and blessings (Isaiah 5:7).

“In that day”:The phrase “In that day” is a recurring theme in the book of Isaiah and refers to a future time when God will bring about His purposes and fulfil His promises. It often denotes a time of judgment, but also restoration and blessing for God’s people.

Singing:The call to sing in this verse indicates a response of joy and gratitude for God’s faithfulness and the blessings He provides. Singing is a common theme in the Bible, often associated with praising and worshiping God.

Application:While the verse specifically speaks about a future time of restoration for God’s people, there are some principles that we can apply to our lives today. It reminds us that God is a God of restoration, and He can turn any situation around for His glory. Just as a vineyard of red wine symbolises abundance and blessing, God desires to bless His people and provide for their needs. We can respond to God’s faithfulness and provision with joyful praise and worship.

Overall, Isaiah 27:2 (KJV) portrays a future time when God will restore His people and bless them abundantly. It encourages us to trust in God’s faithfulness and respond with joy and praise for His provision and blessings in our lives.
