Isaiah 45:7

“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”

Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) says: “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”

Context of the Passage:Isaiah 45 is a chapter in which the prophet Isaiah speaks about Cyrus, the Persian king who would be used by God as an instrument to bring about the deliverance of the Israelites from Babylonian captivity. In this verse, God is declaring His sovereignty and power over all things, including light and darkness, peace and evil.

It does not imply that God is the source of moral evil or sin. Rather, it emphasises God’s role in allowing or bringing about events that may be perceived as negative or destructive for His greater purposes.

God’s Sovereignty and Providence:This verse underscores the sovereignty and providence of God. He has complete authority and power over all things. It asserts that nothing happens without His knowledge and permission. While God is not the author of moral evil, He can allow or use adverse circumstances to accomplish His divine plan.
