The Lord said, Uerely it shall be well with thy remnant, verely I will cause the enemie to intreat thee well in the time of euill, and in the time of affliction. Jeremiah 15:11 (KJV)

Jeremiah 15:11 is a verse from the book of Jeremiah in which the Lord speaks directly to the prophet, offering a message of assurance amid the surrounding pronouncements of judgment. In the verses that precede it, Jeremiah laments the suffering, opposition, and persecution he endures as God’s messenger, even questioning why he was born into such hardship. In response, the Lord declares, “Verily it shall be well with thy remnant,” identifying a faithful few who will survive the coming devastation and experience God’s goodness. The promise continues, “verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction,” indicating that even adversaries will be moved to favorable treatment toward the remnant during periods of trouble.

The term “remnant” refers to those who remain loyal to God after judgment, and the verse assures them that divine protection and favor will accompany them. This assurance is not isolated; it reflects God’s broader pattern of offering hope to His people even when surrounding circumstances are bleak. Believers today can draw encouragement from this promise, recognizing that God remains present with His faithful followers and can turn difficult situations to their benefit.

It is important to note that Jeremiah 15:11 occurs within a larger section that primarily conveys messages of judgment concerning Israel’s sin and impending consequences. While the verse itself offers personal reassurance, the surrounding context emphasizes the seriousness of disobedience. Readers seeking broader encouragement may also consider passages such as Jeremiah 29:11, which speak explicitly of future hope. Together, these texts remind us that God’s faithfulness endures, providing comfort and protection to those who trust in Him, even amid affliction.
