John 12:47

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Context

This verse comes near the end of Jesus’ public teaching, shortly after His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. In the Gospel of John, Jesus is presented as the Son of God who came to bring salvation. Here He explains His immediate purpose: not to judge the world, but to save it.

Jesus addresses anyone who hears His words. The Greek word translated “believe not” implies a refusal to accept or obey what He says. Hearing alone is not enough; true faith involves believing and acting on His message. Jesus states that He does not judge such a person now, because His first coming was for salvation, not condemnation.
