John 19:22

“Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.”

Context:This verse is part of the narrative of Jesus’ crucifixion. Pilate, the Roman governor, had ordered a sign to be placed on the cross that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews” (John 19:19). The chief priests objected to this wording and asked Pilate to change it, but Pilate responded with the statement found in John 19:22.
