John 4:23

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Jesus spoke these words to a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well near Sychar. Samaritans worshiped on Mount Gerizim, while Jews worshiped in Jerusalem, creating a long-standing division. The phrase “the hour cometh, and now is” signals both a future hope and a present reality. Jesus announces that the time of worship limited to a specific place is ending.
