John 6:37

Posted on 18 May at 14:37

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Certainly! Here is a Bible study on Verse: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

Context:John 6:37 is part of a larger discourse known as the Bread of Life Discourse, where Jesus speaks about Himself as the Bread of Life. In this section, Jesus addresses a large crowd that had followed Him after witnessing the miracle of feeding the five thousand.

God’s Sovereignty:Jesus begins by emphasising the sovereignty of God the Father. He declares that all those whom the Father gives Him will come to Him. This statement highlights God’s initiative in salvation. It reveals that faith and salvation are not purely human endeavours but are ultimately the work of God. God chooses and draws people to Himself (John 6:44) and grants them the ability to believe in Jesus (John 6:65).

Salvation through Jesus:Jesus assures that anyone who comes to Him will not be cast out. This statement offers comfort and assurance to those who place their trust in Him. Jesus promises that He will not reject or turn away anyone who seeks Him with a sincere heart. It emphasises the inclusivity of God’s grace, that anyone who comes to Him in faith will be accepted and embraced.

Invitation and Rejection:While the verse emphasises God’s sovereignty and assurance of acceptance, it also implies human responsibility. It implies that people have a choice to come to Jesus or reject Him. Although God draws and invites people to Himself, individuals must respond to that invitation. Those who genuinely come to Jesus in faith will experience His acceptance and receive salvation.

Application:John 6:37 teaches us several important lessons. First, it reminds us that our salvation is ultimately a work of God’s grace. It is God who chooses, draws, and grants faith to those who believe in Jesus. Second, it assures us of Jesus’ willingness to accept and embrace all who come to Him. It doesn’t matter who we are or what we’ve done; if we come to Jesus with repentant hearts, He will receive us. Finally, this verse also challenges us to respond to Jesus’ invitation. We have a responsibility to come to Him in faith, acknowledging our need for salvation and surrendering our lives to Him.

  • Remember, this Bible study provides a brief overview of John 6:37. To gain a deeper understanding, it’s beneficial to read the surrounding verses and explore related passages to grasp the full context and significance of this verse.
