Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

Context
In the preceding verses, Jesus healed a man born blind by making clay and directing him to wash in the pool of Siloam. The man obeyed and received his sight. When the Pharisees questioned him, the man defended Jesus, and they cast him out of the synagogue.
Meaning
In John 9:35, Jesus hears that the man has been cast out, and He actively seeks him. This shows Jesus’ personal care for the outcast. When Jesus finds him, He asks, “Dost thou believe on the Son of God?” This question is not a rebuke but a gracious invitation to move from physical sight to spiritual confession. The man had already called Jesus a prophet (John 9:17) and reasoned that God does not hear sinners (John 9:31), yet he had not identified Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus’ question directs him to the heart of faith: belief in Jesus’ divine identity.
