Listen to this article

“All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.”

Luke 10:22 (KJV) says: “All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.”

This verse is part of a larger passage where Jesus sends out seventy disciples to go ahead of Him to various cities, preaching the kingdom of God and healing the sick. Upon their return, they joyfully report their successes to Jesus. In response, Jesus expresses His own joy and reveals profound truths about His relationship with the Father.

Jesus’ Authority:The verse begins by stating, “All things are delivered to me of my Father.” This statement highlights Jesus’ authority and divine appointment. The Father has entrusted everything into Jesus’ hands, demonstrating His sovereignty over all creation.

The Unique Relationship:The verse continues, “and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son.” Here, Jesus emphasizes the unique relationship between Himself and the Father. No human being can fully comprehend the identity and nature of the Son except the Father. Similarly, the true nature and character of the Father can only be known by the Son. This statement highlights the profound intimacy and unity between God the Father and God the Son.

The Revelation of the Father:The verse concludes, “and he to whom the Son will reveal him.” Jesus asserts that the Son has the authority to reveal the Father to whomever He chooses. This implies that through Jesus, humanity can come to know and understand the Father. Jesus acts as the mediator between God and humanity, making the Father known and accessible to those who seek Him.

Overall, Luke 10:22 highlights the unique relationship between Jesus and the Father, emphasizing Jesus’ authority, and His role as the revealer of the Father. It emphasises the intimacy and unity within the Godhead and invites individuals to seek a deeper understanding of the Father through Jesus. This verse underscores Jesus’ divine identity, His authority, and His role as the pathway to knowing and experiencing God the Father.
