And then shal he send his Angels, and shall gather together his elect from the foure winds, from the vttermost part of the earth, to the vttermost part of heauen. Mark 13:27 (KJV)

Mark 13, often called the Olivet Discourse, records Jesus speaking to His disciples on the Mount of Olives about the signs that will precede the end of the age. He mentions the destruction of the temple, the rise of false messiahs, wars, and great tribulation, setting the stage for the climactic promise found in verse 27.

Gathering of the Elect: In this verse Jesus describes a future event when He will send His angels to gather His elect. This gathering points to the second coming of Christ, when He will appear in power and glory to bring together all who belong to Him from every corner of the earth.

The Angels’ Role: The angels are presented as messengers of God who execute His divine purposes. Here they are commissioned by Christ to collect the believers, underscoring the active participation of heavenly beings in God’s redemptive plan.

The Elect: The term “elect” refers to those whom God has chosen for salvation—people who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, accepted His atoning work on the cross, and enjoy a personal relationship with Him. The elect are not confined to a particular ethnicity or nation; they include individuals from every tribe, language, and culture who have become part of God’s family through faith.

From the Four Winds: The phrase “from the four winds” symbolizes the four corners of the earth, indicating a comprehensive gathering of believers from all directions. It highlights the universal scope of God’s salvation and assures that no believer, wherever located, will be left behind.

From the Uttermost Part of the Earth to the Uttermost Part of Heaven: This further emphasizes the all‑encompassing nature of the gathering. Believers will be drawn from the farthest reaches of the physical world and even from the highest realms of heaven, illustrating the totality of God’s redemptive reach.

Overall, Mark 13:27 paints a powerful picture of Christ’s return, when His angels will assemble the chosen people from every nation and realm into eternal unity within His kingdom. The passage offers believers a profound hope and assurance that, despite present trials, they will one day be gathered into the glorious presence of their Lord for eternity.
