Mark 6:30

Posted on 18 May at 14:47
Listen to this article

“And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.”

Context:Before diving into Mark 6:30, let’s understand the context. In the preceding verses, Jesus had sent out His twelve apostles in pairs to preach, cast out demons, and heal the sick. They returned to Jesus and gathered around Him to report their experiences.

Importance of Gathering:The opening phrase, “And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus,” highlights the significance of coming together as a community of believers. This act of gathering demonstrates the apostles’ unity and their commitment to Jesus as their leader and teacher. It also emphasises the importance of seeking guidance and sharing experiences with one another.

Transparency and Accountability:The verse continues, “and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.” Here, we see the apostles being transparent and accountable to Jesus. They reported to Him not only their actions but also the content of their teaching. This demonstrates the apostles’ desire to learn from Jesus, receive His feedback, and align their ministry with His teachings.

Learning from Jesus:By sharing their experiences and teachings with Jesus, the apostles displayed a humble attitude and a willingness to learn. They recognised that Jesus was their ultimate authority and source of wisdom. This aspect of the verse reminds us of the importance of being teachable and seeking guidance from God’s Word and from those with spiritual authority.

Application to Our Lives:Mark 6:30 encourages us to gather together with fellow believers and share our experiences and teachings. It emphasises the importance of community, transparency, accountability, and a teachable spirit. We should seek opportunities to come together, share our stories, learn from one another, and align our lives and ministries with the teachings of Jesus.
