Matthew 10:21

“And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.”

Context:Matthew 10 is a chapter where Jesus is commissioning His twelve disciples to go out and proclaim the message of the kingdom of heaven. He gives them instructions, warnings, and encouragement for the challenges they will face in their mission.

Family Conflicts:In this verse, Jesus foretells a difficult reality that the disciples will encounter as they carry out their ministry. He speaks of the potential persecution that will arise, even from within their own families. Brothers will betray brothers, fathers will hand over their own children, and children will rise against their parents. This does not mean that Christians should disregard or mistreat their families, but it emphasizes that the supreme loyalty must be to God and His purposes.

Enduring Faithfulness:Jesus’ words also provide assurance to His disciples that even in the midst of persecution and family divisions, their faithfulness to Him will ultimately be vindicated. They may face hardship and suffering, but they are called to remain steadfast, trusting that God will sustain them and reward their faithfulness in due time.
