Listen to this article

Therefore I will looke vnto you the Lord: I will waite for the God of my saluation: my God will heare me. Micah 7:7 (KJV)

Micah was a prophet who lived during a time of great social and moral decay in both the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. The book of Micah contains a message of judgment for the sins of the people, but it also offers hope for future restoration.

Trust in the Lord: The verse begins with the word “Therefore,” indicating that it is a response to the prevailing circumstances described in the previous verses. Despite the corruption and difficulties around him, Micah chooses to place his trust in the Lord. In times of trouble or uncertainty, we should turn to God and put our trust in Him.

Looking to the Lord: Micah declares that he will look unto the Lord. This suggests an intentional act of directing his attention, focus, and dependence upon God. In a world filled with distractions and challenges, we are reminded of the need to fix our gaze upon the Lord, seeking His guidance, provision, and strength.

Waiting on God: Micah also expresses his resolve to wait for the God of his salvation, waiting upon the Lord. Waiting on God implies a patient expectation of His deliverance, even when circumstances seem overwhelming. It demonstrates a humble acknowledgment that God’s timing and ways are higher than ours. Waiting on God requires faith, perseverance, and a surrender of our own plans and desires to His perfect will.

Assurance of God’s response: The verse assures that God will hear Micah and protect him from the day of wrath. It reassures us that when we look to the Lord and wait on Him, He hears our prayers and cares for us.

Application: Micah’s words in this verse encourage us to have unwavering faith in God, especially when faced with challenging circumstances. It reminds us that our hope lies in Him, and He is faithful to answer our prayers. Therefore, we should continually seek His presence, patiently wait for His timing, and trust in His provision.

Further exploration: To deepen your understanding of this verse and its context, consider reading the entire book of Micah. Reflect on the themes of judgment, restoration, and the call to pursue justice and righteousness. Additionally, explore other verses in the Bible that emphasize the importance of looking to the Lord, waiting on Him, and the assurance of His response (e.g., Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:31, Lamentations 3:25‑26).

Remember, the Bible is a rich and interconnected book, and studying it as a whole can provide deeper insights and a more comprehensive understanding of God’s message to us.
