The land brought foorth frogs in abundance: in the chambers of their kings. Psalms 105:30 (KJV)

Psalm 105 is a song of praise and thanksgiving, celebrating God’s faithfulness to the people of Israel throughout their history. The psalm repeatedly emphasizes the covenant that God made with Abraham and the way He has fulfilled that promise through the nation of Israel. Within the larger narrative of the Exodus, the psalmist recalls how God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and led them onward toward the Promised Land. The specific verse under study describes how the land that had once produced an abundance of frogs for the Egyptian kings became the inheritance of the Israelites. In that transition the Israelites received the lands of the nations that previously dwelt there, and they inherited the labor that those peoples had performed.

The nations mentioned in the broader context—such as the Canaanites and the Amorites—were dispossessed because of their wickedness and iniquity. Their removal illustrates God’s sovereign right to judge persistent sin and disobedience, while simultaneously carrying out His divine plan to give the promised territory to the descendants of Abraham. This dual action of judgment and provision underscores both God’s justice toward the nations that opposed Him and His unwavering faithfulness to the covenant promises made to the patriarchs. By recalling these events, the psalmist invites the worshiping community to remember that the very ground beneath their feet is a testament to God’s power, mercy, and steadfast love, encouraging continual gratitude and trust in His future faithfulness.
