Let the redeemed of the Lord say so: whome he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemie: Psalms 107:2 (KJV)

Context: The Book of Psalms is a collection of songs and prayers that express a wide range of emotions and experiences. Psalm 107 is a psalm of thanksgiving and praise to God for His steadfast love and deliverance.

“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so”: The psalmist begins by urging the redeemed, those who have been saved and delivered by the LORD, to proclaim their redemption. It emphasises the importance of testimonies and declaring God’s goodness and faithfulness.

“Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy”: This verse highlights that God’s redeeming work is accomplished by delivering people from the hand of the enemy. It acknowledges the redeemed were once in a state of captivity or oppression, but God intervened and set them free.

Theological significance: This verse reminds believers of God’s redemptive power and His ability to rescue His people from their enemies. It points to the deliverance that God provides for those who put their trust in Him. It also encourages believers to give voice to their testimonies, acknowledging God’s work in their lives and proclaiming His faithfulness.

Application: Gratitude and praise: This verse encourages us to cultivate an attitude of gratitude for God’s redemption and deliverance. We should give thanks for the freedom and victory He has brought into our lives.

Sharing our testimonies: Just as the psalmist calls the redeemed to “say so,” we should be willing to share our testimonies of God’s work in our lives. Our stories can inspire and encourage others, demonstrating the power of God’s redeeming love.

Trusting in God’s deliverance: When we face challenges, opposition, or spiritual battles, we can take comfort in the assurance that God is our deliverer. We should trust in Him to rescue us from the hands of our enemies and provide the victory.

In conclusion, Psalm 107:2 encourages the redeemed to proclaim God’s deliverance from the hands of the enemy. It emphasises the importance of gratitude, sharing testimonies, and trusting in God’s redeeming power.
