Psalms 16:9

Posted on 18 May at 15:18

“Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.”

Certainly! Let’s do a Bible study on Psalm 16:9 in the King James Version.

Psalm 16:9 (KJV) says: “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.”

Context:Psalm 16 is attributed to David, and it is known as a Michtam or a golden psalm. It is a prayer of trust and confidence in God’s protection and provision. The psalm speaks about finding refuge in God and the joy and security that comes from being in His presence.

Heart’s Gladness:The psalmist declares that his heart is glad. This speaks of an inner joy and contentment that comes from a deep trust in God. It is a joy that transcends circumstances and is rooted in a relationship with the Lord. It is important to note that true joy comes from the presence of God in our lives.

Glory Rejoices:The phrase “my glory rejoiceth” can be understood as a reference to the psalmist’s soul or spirit. It is an expression of exultation and delight. The psalmist finds his ultimate joy and fulfilment in God. The recognition of God’s presence and goodness brings about a rejoicing of the innermost being.

Flesh Rests in Hope:The psalmist expresses confidence that even in the physical realm, his flesh will find rest in hope. This implies a sense of security and peace in the midst of challenges or uncertainties. The psalmist’s hope is not in earthly things but in God alone. It is a hope that brings rest to the weary soul.
