Psalms 37:33

Listen to this article

“The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.”

This verse is part of Psalm 37, which is a wisdom psalm written by King David. In this psalm, David reflects on the contrasting destinies of the wicked and the righteous and encourages his readers to trust in God and follow His ways.

Now, let’s break down Psalms 37:33 and explore its meaning and implications:

“The LORD will not leave him in his hand”: Here, “him” refers to the righteous person mentioned earlier in the psalm. David assures the reader that when the righteous face opposition or threats from the wicked, God will not abandon them or allow them to be completely consumed by their enemies. It emphasises God’s faithfulness and protection over His people.

“Nor condemn him when he is judged”: This phrase assures the righteous that even when they are brought before human judgment or face accusations, God will not condemn them. It indicates that God ultimately holds the final say in the righteous person’s judgment. Though they may face trials and false accusations, God will ensure their vindication and deliverance.

Overall, Psalms 37:33 serves as a source of comfort and encouragement for the righteous. It affirms that God is their protector and defender, promising His presence and deliverance even in times of difficulty and judgment.

Furthermore, this verse reminds believers that their ultimate trust should be in God, rather than in the judgments of the world. It assures them that God’s justice will prevail, and He will faithfully uphold and vindicate the righteous.

In summary, Psalms 37:33 (KJV) emphasises God’s faithfulness, protection, and ultimate authority over the judgments faced by the righteous. It encourages believers to place their trust in God, knowing that He will not abandon them and will bring about justice in due time.
