Psalms 38:9
“Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.”
Context:Psalm 38 is a penitential psalm in which David pours out his heart to God, confessing his sins and seeking deliverance from his enemies and the consequences of his transgressions.
Addressing the Lord:The psalm begins with David addressing the Lord, acknowledging His sovereignty and his own dependency upon Him. By addressing God as “Lord,” David recognizes God’s authority and power over his life.
Desire before God:David declares that all his desires are before God. This signifies his openness and transparency before the Lord. David understands that God knows the deepest longings of his heart, including his repentance, his need for forgiveness, and his desire for restoration.
Groaning not hidden from God:David acknowledges that his groaning, which represents his anguish, pain, and distress, is not hidden from God. This indicates that God is aware of David’s suffering and is attentive to his cries. It reflects the psalmist’s confidence in God’s omniscience and His ability to empathize with His people.
