“Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity”

Certainly! Here is a Bible study on Psalm 64:2 (KJV):

Psalm 64:2 (KJV) says: “Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity.”

1. Context: The Book of Psalms is a collection of prayers, songs, and poems written by various authors, including King David. Psalm 64 is attributed to David and is classified as a lament or prayer for protection against enemies. In this particular verse, David expresses his desire for God to hide him from the schemes and actions of wicked individuals.

2. Seeking God’s Protection: The verse begins with the plea, “Hide me.” This reflects David’s acknowledgement of his vulnerability and his need for God’s shelter and protection. It shows a deep reliance on God as a refuge and a source of security in the face of danger.

3. Secret Counsel of the Wicked: David asks God to hide him from the “secret counsel of the wicked.” This refers to the hidden schemes, strategies, and plans of evildoers. David recognizes that the wicked often operate in secrecy, devising strategies to cause harm or carry out their malicious intentions. He appeals to God to shield him from these hidden plots.

4. Insurrection of the Workers of Iniquity: The second part of the verse speaks of the “insurrection of the workers of iniquity.” David acknowledges that these wicked individuals not only plan in secret but also engage in rebellious actions. They rise up against righteousness and promote wickedness. David implores God to protect him from the uprising and rebellion of these workers of iniquity.

5. Application: As believers, we can learn from this verse by recognising our own vulnerability to the schemes and actions of evil in the world. We should seek God’s protection, just as David did. We can take refuge in God, trusting Him to shield us from the secret plans and rebellious acts of those who oppose righteousness. We can bring our fears, concerns, and petitions to God, knowing that He is our ultimate source of safety and security.
