But verily God hath heard mee; hee hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Psalms 66:19 (KJV)

Sure! Let’s dive into a Bible study on Psalm 66:19 in the King James Version. Psalm 66 is a psalm of thanksgiving and praise, in which the psalmist celebrates God’s mighty works and deliverance. The psalm opens with a universal call for all the earth to worship and sing praises to God, acknowledging His awesome deeds and sovereign power over creation. Throughout the psalm the writer recalls God’s faithfulness to Israel, recalling deliverance from slavery in Egypt and the journey through the wilderness, and then moves to a personal expression of gratitude for answered prayer.

In verse 19 the psalmist declares, “But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer,” affirming that God has indeed listened and responded. The wording also conveys that God delivered the psalmist’s soul from peril, underscoring the certainty that God not only hears but also acts on behalf of the faithful. This confident affirmation demonstrates the psalmist’s trust that God is attentive, caring, and ready to intervene.

The passage reflects an unwavering faith in God’s character as one who hears and answers the cries of His people. The psalmist’s experience of answered prayer serves as a testimony that encourages others who face similar trials, showing that God’s responsiveness is a reliable foundation for trust.

Application follows naturally. Believers are invited to approach God with confidence, knowing that He hears our prayers and cares for our needs. When God answers, our response should be gratitude and praise, acknowledging His faithfulness. Sharing personal testimonies of God’s deliverance can uplift and strengthen the faith of those around us. Finally, the verse highlights the intimate relationship we enjoy with God, inviting us to come directly before Him, assured that He listens and acts on our behalf.
