Psalms 70:1

Posted on 18 May at 15:15

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.”

Sure! Let’s do a Bible study on Psalm 70:1 in the King James Version.

Psalm 70:1 (KJV) says: “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.”

Context:Psalm 70 is attributed to King David and is classified as a Psalm of Supplication or Prayer for Deliverance. It is a short psalm consisting of only five verses, and it expresses a sense of urgency and desperation in seeking God’s intervention and assistance.

Supplication and Urgency:The psalm begins with an urgent plea to God, expressing the need for immediate deliverance and help. The repetition of the phrase “make haste” emphasizes the intensity of the request. It reflects the psalmist’s recognition of his own limitations and his dependence on God’s swift response.

Trust in God’s Deliverance:By addressing God as “O LORD,” the psalmist acknowledges God’s sovereignty and supreme authority. Despite the urgency of the situation, the psalmist confidently trusts in God’s ability and willingness to come to his aid. The psalmist knows that God is capable of delivering him from whatever trouble he is facing.
