Psalms 91:11
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
1. Context:Psalm 91 is a beautiful psalm that expresses trust in God’s protection and deliverance. It provides comfort and assurance to those who seek refuge in the Lord. The psalmist acknowledges God as their refuge, describing His faithfulness and the various ways He protects His people.
2. God’s Promised Provision:Psalm 91:11 assures believers that God gives charge to His angels to watch over and protect them. This verse reflects the divine care and intervention God provides in the lives of His people. The promise of angelic protection emphasizes God’s sovereignty and His desire to safeguard His children.
3. Angelic Assistance:The Bible mentions angels throughout its pages, highlighting their role as divine messengers and ministers of God’s will. In this verse, angels are depicted as charged with the responsibility of guarding and protecting believers. This doesn’t mean that we should focus solely on angels but rather acknowledge that God employs supernatural means to ensure our well-being.
4. God’s Comprehensive Care:The phrase “to keep thee in all thy ways” conveys the idea that God’s protection extends to every aspect of our lives. It is not limited to specific situations or locations but encompasses our entire journey. God’s watchful eye is upon us in all our endeavors, guiding, protecting, and preserving us from harm.
5. Trusting in God’s Protection:This verse encourages us to trust in God’s protective presence. As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that God has assigned His angels to guard and watch over us. However, it’s essential to note that this verse should not be interpreted to mean that we will never face challenges or difficult circumstances. It reminds us that even in the midst of trials, God’s providence and care are with us.
6. Practical Application:Recognize that God is with you in every situation, and trust in His protection. Seek to cultivate a personal relationship with God through prayer, study of His Word, and obedience to His commands. Understand that God’s protection does not exempt us from challenges, but His presence and guidance will sustain us through them.
