Revelation 7:15

Posted on 18 May at 14:21
Listen to this article

“Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.”

Revelation 7:15 is a part of the Apostle John’s vision recorded in the book of Revelation. This vision provides a glimpse into the heavenly realm and describes the scene of a great multitude standing before the throne of God. In the preceding verses, John sees an angel sealing 144,000 people from the twelve tribes of Israel. Following this, he witnesses a vast multitude that no one could number, comprising people from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and the Lamb.

In verse 15, John explains the position and role of this multitude. He says, “Therefore are they before the throne of God.” This phrase indicates that those who make up the multitude are in the presence of God. They are in close proximity to the throne, signifying their intimate relationship with God. The throne symbolizes divine authority, sovereignty, and majesty.

The verse goes on to say that the multitude “serve him day and night in his temple.” Here, the word “serve” implies worship, devotion, and obedience to God. The phrase “day and night” emphasizes the continual nature of their service. This indicates that those in God’s presence are engaged in unceasing worship and devotion, offering their praise and adoration to God at all times.

Furthermore, the verse states that “he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.” This phrase reveals the personal presence of God among the multitude. God, who is enthroned, chooses to make His dwelling place among His people. It signifies a deep and intimate relationship between God and His redeemed ones. In this dwelling, God is not distant or separate, but rather intimately connected with His people, providing them comfort, guidance, and love.

Overall, Revelation 7:15 highlights the eternal and blessed state of those who are redeemed and belong to God. They enjoy the privilege of standing before the throne of God, engaging in continual worship and service, and experiencing the personal presence of God. This verse portrays the ultimate fulfilment of God’s promise to dwell with His people and demonstrates the eternal joy and fellowship that believers will have with Him in the heavenly realm.

It’s important to note that the book of Revelation contains rich symbolism, and its interpretation can vary among scholars and theologians. Therefore, studying the verse in the broader context of the book and considering other related passages can provide a more comprehensive understanding of its meaning.
