Romans 5:2

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

This verse is part of the letter written by the apostle Paul to the Romans. It addresses the blessings and benefits that believers receive through their faith in Jesus Christ. Let’s break it down and explore its meaning in context:

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace”: The phrase “by whom” refers to Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, believers have access to the grace of God. Grace is God’s unmerited favor and blessings bestowed upon humanity, particularly through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. It is through faith in Jesus that we can approach God and receive His grace.

“Wherein we stand”: This phrase suggests that believers stand in a position of grace. It implies that we are firmly rooted and established in God’s favor, which is made available through Jesus. As believers, we don’t have to strive or earn God’s grace; we simply stand in it, knowing that it is freely given to us through our faith in Christ.

“And rejoice in hope of the glory of God”: Believers have a reason to rejoice because of the hope we have in God’s glory. This refers to the confident expectation that, through our relationship with Christ, we will one day share in God’s glory. It is the assurance that, as we walk in faith, we are destined for eternal life with God and will experience the fullness of His glory.
