1 Chronicles 16:27 (KJV)
Context
This verse belongs to David’s song of thanksgiving after the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem. The Ark symbolised God’s presence among His people, and this hymn praises His greatness and faithfulness.
Meaning
Glory and honour are in God’s presence. Glory points to His radiant splendour and magnificence, while honour speaks of His worthiness and the esteem due to Him. These words emphasise the majesty and exalted nature of God.
Strength is in God’s place. In this context, God’s place is the tabernacle where the Ark resided. Being near God means access to divine strength. Through communion with Him, believers can find power to face challenges and overcome difficulties.
