1 Chronicles 17:8

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

Context

David wanted to build a permanent house for the Lord, but God sent the prophet Nathan with a different message. Instead of David building God a house, God promised to build David a house, meaning a lasting dynasty. This verse is part of that promise, spoken directly to David.

The verse has three parts. First, God says, “And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked.” This assures David of God’s constant presence through every journey, battle, and circumstance.
