2 Samuel 23:26

“The thirty and seventh [in number] of the first [rank], the children of Azmaveth:”

This verse is a part of a longer passage in 2 Samuel 23:24-39 that describes David’s mighty men. These were the elite warriors and leaders who served under King David and played significant roles in his kingdom. In this specific verse, it mentions the children of Azmaveth. Azmaveth is believed to be the name of a person, but not much else is known about him. The verse states that there were thirty-seven individuals who belonged to the first rank or division, and they were associated with Azmaveth. It’s important to note that the Bible doesn’t provide detailed information about each of David’s mighty men. However, the passage in 2 Samuel 23 gives us a glimpse into their bravery and loyalty to David.

Context:The inclusion of these men in the Bible highlights the importance of courageous and loyal individuals in the service of God’s purposes. These mighty men were renowned for their valor, and they played a crucial role in supporting and defending King David.

This verse serves as a reminder that God uses ordinary individuals to accomplish extraordinary things. The mention of the children of Azmaveth among David’s mighty men demonstrates that even those whose names are not widely known or remembered can still make a significant impact.

As we study this verse and the broader passage, we can reflect on the qualities of loyalty, courage, and dedication to God’s purposes. It encourages us to be faithful in our own lives, serving God and others with valor and commitment.

While this verse may not provide a wealth of specific information, it still offers valuable insights into the character of those who served alongside David and can inspire us in our own walk of faith.
