Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

The phrase “throne of the LORD” is striking. It shows that Israel’s throne was not merely a human institution. God ruled over it, and He placed kings as His representatives.
