Job 36:5

Posted on 18 May at 11:26
Listen to this article

Behold, God is mightie, and despiseth not any: he is mightie in strength and wisedome. Job 36:5 (KJV)

Behold, God

is mighty, and despiseth not

any: he is

mighty in strength

and wisdom. Job 36:5 (KJV)

This verse is part of a larger speech by Elihu, one of Job’s friends, as he responds to Job’s suffering and questions about God’s justice. In this particular verse, Elihu emphasizes the greatness and attributes of God.

God’s Mightiness:

Elihu declares, “Behold, God is mighty.” This statement highlights the immense power and strength of God. It emphasizes that God possesses unmatched authority and dominion over all creation. His mightiness reveals His ability to accomplish all things and His sovereignty over the universe.

God’s Lack of Despising:

He continues, “and despiseth not any.” This phrase reassures Job and the readers that God does not show favouritism or reject anyone based on circumstance, social status, or background. God’s love and care extend to all people, regardless of their situation or past, emphasizing the impartiality and fairness of His character.

God’s Might in Strength:

Elihu adds, “he is mighty in strength.” This further emphasizes the power and ability of God to accomplish His purposes. God’s strength is infinite and unmatched; nothing is too difficult for Him, and He is capable of bringing about His plans and fulfilling His promises.

God’s Confirmation of Wisdom:

Finally, Elihu concludes by stating, “and wisdom,” and also, “and he confirmeth all that is wise.” This highlights God’s perfect wisdom and understanding. God’s wisdom encompasses not only knowledge but also the ability to make wise decisions and govern the world with justice. It indicates that God’s actions and judgments are rooted in His perfect wisdom and are beyond human comprehension.

Overall, Job 36:5 reminds us of the majesty and attributes of God. It emphasizes His mightiness, His impartiality, His strength, and His wisdom. This verse serves as a reminder of God’s sovereignty, fairness, and unmatched power, encouraging us to trust in His wisdom and rely on His strength, knowing that He is capable of working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
