Psalms 71:14

Posted on 18 May at 15:15

“But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.”

Context:Psalm 71 is attributed to King David, and it is a prayer for deliverance and protection from enemies. Throughout the psalm, David expresses his trust in God’s faithfulness and recounts the many times God has been his refuge and strength.

Hope in God:The verse begins with the phrase, “But I will hope continually.” Hope is an essential theme in the Bible, and it refers to a confident expectation and trust in God’s promises and faithfulness. In the face of adversity and challenges, David declares his commitment to maintaining unwavering hope in God. This demonstrates his firm belief that God is his source of strength and deliverance.

Praise and Gratitude:The verse continues, “and will yet praise thee more and more.” Despite his difficult circumstances, David resolves to praise God even further. This statement reveals his deep gratitude and recognition of God’s goodness and faithfulness in his life. David acknowledges that praising God is not limited to certain situations but is a continuous act of worship and thanksgiving.

  • Persevering Hope:David’s example encourages us to maintain hope in God, even when circumstances seem overwhelming. In times of trouble or uncertainty, we can cling to the promises of God, knowing that He is always faithful to His Word.
  • Continuous Praise:David’s commitment to praising God more and more teaches us to cultivate a lifestyle of worship and gratitude. Regardless of our circumstances, we can choose to focus on God’s goodness and offer Him our praise continually.
