“Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.”

Certainly! Here’s a Bible study on Psalm 90:16 (KJV):Verse: “Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.” (Psalm 90:16, KJV)

1. Context:Psalm 90 is attributed to Moses and is the only psalm in the Book of Psalms ascribed to him. It is a prayer of Moses, recognizing the eternal nature of God and the brevity of human life. In verse 16, Moses implores God to reveal His work and glory to His servants and their children.

2. Recognizing our need for God’s work:The psalm begins by acknowledging the eternal nature of God and the limited lifespan of humanity. It highlights the frailty and transience of human life, emphasizing the need for God’s intervention. In verse 16, Moses humbly appeals to God, recognizing the significance of God’s work in the lives of His servants. As believers, we should also acknowledge our dependence on God’s work and seek His active involvement in our lives.

3. Desiring God’s glory:Moses expresses his desire for God’s glory to be revealed not only to His servants but also to their children. The glory of God refers to His divine attributes, majesty, and power displayed in His works. Moses understood the importance of passing on the knowledge of God’s glory to future generations. It implies a desire for the next generation to experience the same awe and reverence for God as the current generation does. As believers, we should strive to pass on our faith and the knowledge of God’s glory to our children and future generations.

4. The significance of God’s work and glory:The request of Moses in this verse reflects a deep longing for God’s active involvement and His manifestation of His glory. It demonstrates an understanding that true fulfillment and purpose come from experiencing and witnessing the work and glory of God. It is a plea for God to make Himself known to His people in a tangible and transformative way.

5. Application:As we reflect on Psalm 90:16, we can draw several applications for our lives today:

  • – Humbly seek God’s work in your life:Recognize your need for God’s intervention and actively invite Him to work in your life. Be open to His leading, guidance, and transformation.
  • – Desire God’s glory to be revealed:Develop a passion for experiencing and sharing the glory of God. Seek opportunities to witness God’s power, majesty, and love. Share your faith and the knowledge of God’s glory with your children and future generations.
  • – Trust in God’s sovereignty and eternal nature:Remember that God is everlasting and His work extends beyond our limited understanding. Trust in His plans and purposes, knowing that He is in control.
