Joshua 12 recounts the victories of the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua. It lists the kings defeated by the Israelites, both on the east side and west side of the Jordan River. The chapter begins by mentioning the kings defeated on the east side of the Jordan, including Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan. Their lands were allotted to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. The chapter then shifts to the kings conquered by the Israelites on the west side of the Jordan. These kings include the rulers of Jericho, Ai, Jerusalem, Hebron, and other cities. In total, the Israelites defeated thirty-one kings and took possession of their territories.
