Acts 9:35
“And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.”
Context:The Book of Acts is the fifth book in the New Testament, written by Luke, the same author who wrote the Gospel of Luke. It records the early history of the Christian church, particularly the acts and ministry of the apostles after the ascension of Jesus.
Lydda and Saron:Lydda was a town located about 25 miles northwest of Jerusalem, in the region of Samaria. Saron (also known as Sharon) was a fertile plain situated on the coastal plain of Israel. The verse mentions that the people living in Lydda and Saron witnessed something significant.
The Healing of Aeneas:Prior to verse 35, Acts 9:32-34 describes Peter’s ministry in Lydda. There, he encounters a man named Aeneas who had been bedridden for eight years, paralyzed. Peter says to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed” (Acts 9:34, KJV). Miraculously, Aeneas is healed and able to get up and make his bed.
Witnessing the Miracle:Verse 35 states that all the people in Lydda and Saron saw Aeneas after his healing and turned to the Lord. This indicates that the miraculous healing of Aeneas became a powerful witness to the people in that region. Witnessing such a significant and immediate transformation, the people were moved to put their faith in Jesus Christ.
