Acts Chapter 4

Summery

In Acts 4, Peter and John face the consequences of their bold proclamation of Jesus' resurrection. The religious leaders, including the priests, Sadducees, and captain of the temple, gather to confront them. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, boldly testifies about Jesus' name and power, asserting that salvation can be found only through Him. The Jewish leaders, astonished at Peter and John's courage, recognize them as uneducated but also realize they have been with Jesus. Unable to deny the miraculous healing of a lame man, the authorities command Peter and John to no longer speak or teach in Jesus' name.

Upon their release, Peter and John return to their fellow believers, who are fervently praying. They share the events with the community, and together they lift their voices in prayer, praising God and seeking His strength to continue spreading the message of Jesus. Their prayer emphasizes the sovereignty of God, acknowledging His role in the opposition faced by Jesus and His followers. The place where they gather shakes, and they are all filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to speak God's word with boldness.
