“May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.”

Certainly! Here is a Bible study on Verse: “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.”

Context:Ephesians is one of the letters written by the apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus. In this particular verse, Paul is praying for the spiritual growth and understanding of the Ephesian believers.

Spiritual Growth:Paul’s prayer is that the believers in Ephesus may “comprehend with all the saints.” This indicates that spiritual growth is not meant to be an individualistic pursuit, but something that happens within the community of believers. We are called to learn and grow together, encouraging and edifying one another in the faith.

The Four Dimensions:Paul mentions four dimensions: breadth, length, depth, and height. These dimensions are symbolic and can be understood in relation to the knowledge and experience of God’s love.

a. Breadth: The breadth refers to the vastness and inclusiveness of God’s love. It extends to all people, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or social status. God’s love is not limited but embraces everyone.

b. Length: The length signifies the enduring nature of God’s love. It stretches across time and history. God’s love has been manifested from the beginning, demonstrated through His faithfulness and redemptive acts throughout generations.

c. Depth: The depth represents the profound and unconditional nature of God’s love. It reaches into the depths of human brokenness, sin, and despair. God’s love is not superficial but has the power to transform lives and heal the deepest wounds.

d. Height: The height symbolizes the exalted and transcendent nature of God’s love. It surpasses our understanding and is beyond our human limitations. God’s love is divine and beyond measure, reflecting His glory and majesty.

Spiritual Understanding:Paul’s prayer is that the believers may be able to comprehend these dimensions of God’s love. Understanding the breadth, length, depth, and height of God’s love requires a deepening relationship with Him, seeking His revelation through the Holy Spirit, and meditating on His Word. It is a lifelong process of growing in knowledge and intimacy with God.

Application:As believers, we can apply this verse to our lives in the following ways:

  • Seek Community:Engage in fellowship with other believers, learning from one another and growing together in our understanding of God’s love.
  • Study God’s Word:Regularly study the Bible to gain a deeper understanding of God’s love and His character. Meditate on His Word and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the breadth, length, depth, and height of His love.
  • Embrace God’s Love:Receive and experience God’s love in all its dimensions. Allow His love to transform you, heal your brokenness, and empower you to love others in the same way.
  • Share God’s Love:Extend God’s love to others, demonstrating its breadth and inclusiveness. Show love and compassion to all people, regardless of their differences, reflecting God’s unconditional love.

Remember, Ephesians 3:18 reminds us of the immeasurable and all-encompassing love of God. As we seek to comprehend and experience His love, may it transform us and empower us to be agents of love and reconciliation in the world.
