Ezekiel 12:26
Againe the word of the Lord came to me, saying; Ezekiel 12:26 (KJV)
The book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book in the Old Testament, and the prophet Ezekiel received visions and messages from God during the time of the Babylonian exile. In this particular verse, the prophet is receiving another word from the Lord.
Divine Communication – The phrase “the word of the LORD came to me” highlights the prophetic nature of Ezekiel’s ministry. Throughout the book, Ezekiel repeatedly emphasizes that his messages are not his own but are directly from God, underscoring the importance of divine communication and the role of prophets in conveying God’s messages to His people.
Obedience and Faithfulness – The fact that God continued to speak to Ezekiel implies that the prophet was faithful and obedient in delivering the messages he received. Despite the challenges and hardships he faced, Ezekiel remained steadfast in his commitment to serve God and communicate His word accurately, providing an example for believers today to be faithful and obedient in their own lives.
God’s Initiative – The wording emphasizes God’s initiative in speaking to His people. It reminds us that God actively initiates communication and reveals Himself to humanity, whether through His written Word, the Holy Spirit, or other means, demonstrating His ongoing involvement in our lives.
Continuation of God’s Plan – Throughout Ezekiel, the prophet receives various visions and messages that reveal God’s plan for His people. The continued communication indicates that more was to be revealed and accomplished according to God’s sovereign plan, reminding us that God’s work is ongoing and His purposes are continually being fulfilled.
Application:
Seek God’s Word – Just as God spoke to Ezekiel, we should actively seek God’s Word, reading, studying, and meditating on the Bible, which reveals His character, will, and promises.
Faithfulness and Obedience – Ezekiel’s example calls us to faithfully obey God’s commands and fulfill the tasks He gives, trusting that He will provide the strength and guidance needed, even in difficult circumstances.
God’s Sovereign Plan – The ongoing communication with Ezekiel shows that God’s plan unfolds in His timing. We must trust His sovereignty, recognizing that He is working out His purposes even when we do not understand the details.
Sensitivity to God’s Voice – Like Ezekiel, we should cultivate sensitivity to God’s voice through prayer, worship, and time in His presence, growing in intimacy so we become more attuned to His promptings.
