Genesis 1:14

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

The movement of the sun and moon establishes an orderly calendar so that human communities can arrange work, rest, and shared worship.

Days and Years: The luminaries establish the fundamental measurements of human time. The daily rising and setting of the sun marks each day, while the earth’s regular cycle in relation to the sun measures the passing of years. This reliable celestial clock provides stability for human history, planning, and civil life.
