Hebrews 13:16

Context:The book of Hebrews was written to a group of Jewish Christians who were facing persecution and contemplating a return to Judaism. The author of Hebrews encourages them to persevere in their faith and reminds them of the superiority of Christ’s sacrifice over the Old Testament sacrificial system.

In the Old Testament, various animal sacrifices were offered to atone for sins. However, the author of Hebrews emphasises that the sacrifices pleasing to God under the new covenant are acts of kindness, sharing, and selflessness. Our acts of service and generosity reflect a heart transformed by Christ’s love and demonstrate our devotion to Him.
