Hebrews 6:11
“And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end.”
Context:The book of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians who were facing persecution and the temptation to turn away from their faith in Jesus Christ. The author of Hebrews encourages them to persevere in their faith and not drift away. In the preceding verses, the author warns against falling away from the faith and expresses confidence in the readers’ spiritual growth.
Shew the same diligence:The author urges the readers to display consistent diligence. Diligence implies an active, persistent effort towards spiritual growth and obedience to God’s Word. It involves earnestly seeking God and pursuing a deeper relationship with Him.
Full assurance of hope:The goal of the believers’ diligence is to attain full assurance of hope. This refers to a deep and unshakeable confidence in the promises of God, especially regarding salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. It is a hope that is rooted in faith and grounded in the trustworthiness of God.
Unto the end:The author emphasizes the need for perseverance until the end. This suggests that the Christian journey is not a one-time event but a lifelong commitment. It involves enduring through trials, temptations, and challenges until the final fulfillment of God’s promises.
Lessons and Application:

- Perseverance:The Christian journey is not without challenges, but we are called to persevere. We must remain steadfast in our faith, even when faced with trials and temptations. Perseverance requires endurance, reliance on God’s strength, and trust in His faithfulness.
- Encouragement to others:The verse also implies the importance of encouraging fellow believers to pursue diligence and hold onto hope. We should support and uplift one another in our faith journeys, reminding each other of God’s promises and urging one another to persevere.
