Job 28:24

For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

Job 28:24 (KJV)

In Job 28, Job reflects on the value of wisdom and the limits of human understanding. He compares the search for wisdom to mining precious minerals, noting that people work hard to find wealth but often neglect true wisdom. This verse sits within that argument, declaring that God alone sees all things.

The verse says God looks to the ends of the earth and sees under the whole heaven. The language is poetic and sweeping, showing that nothing is hidden from His sight. His knowledge covers all places, all creatures, and all things. Because God sees everything, He alone knows where wisdom resides and how it is obtained. This truth stands in contrast to human limits, for people can only see a small part of the world.

The surrounding verses reinforce this point. Job 28:23 states that God understands the way of wisdom and knows its place, while Job 28:25 speaks of His power in weighing the wind and measuring the waters. Together these verses show that God’s perfect sight and power are the foundation for His wisdom. The chapter concludes with the truth that wisdom means fearing the Lord and departing from evil (Job 28:28).

Job’s words remind us to humbly trust God’s greater understanding, especially when we face trials or lack answers. God sees the whole picture, even when we cannot. His knowledge is not limited by distance, time, or obscurity. This can bring comfort and peace in life’s uncertainties. We can rest in the assurance that God’s wisdom is complete and His ways are trustworthy.

When we feel lost or confused, we can remember that God sees all things clearly. His perspective is infinitely greater than ours. We are invited to turn from evil and live in reverent awe of Him. True wisdom begins with trusting the One who sees everything.
