In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Context
Jesus spoke these words during the farewell discourse at the Last Supper, just before His crucifixion. He was preparing His disciples for His departure and comforting them by assuring them of His return and the promise of eternal life.
Meaning
“In my Father’s house” refers to God the Father’s dwelling place, which is heaven. It is a place of honour, glory, and the ultimate destination for believers.
“Many mansions” — the term “mansions” is often interpreted as dwelling places or rooms. It suggests that there is ample space and provision in heaven for all believers. Each individual will have a special place prepared by Jesus Himself.
“If it were not so, I would have told you” — Jesus assures His disciples that what He is saying is true. He is emphasising His trustworthiness and the certainty of His words, so that they may have faith and confidence in His promises.
“I go to prepare a place for you” — Jesus is going away, referring to His upcoming crucifixion and ascension to heaven. His departure is not permanent but is a preparation for their eternal dwelling with Him. As our High Priest and Saviour, He is actively preparing a place for each believer in His Father’s house.
