And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,

Context

Gibeon is remembered for the earlier deception of the Gibeonites, who tricked Joshua into a peace treaty (Joshua 9). Geba appears elsewhere as a Benjaminite town (Joshua 18:24). The mention of suburbs indicates that these cities included open land for the Levites’ practical provision, showing that God cared for their physical needs as well as their spiritual duties.
